Adult Hats, Mittens and Gloves, Scarves, Socks and Slippers

Hat
made with double strands of worsted weight yarn or single strand of bulky yarn
#8, #11 knitting needles
With #11 needles, cast on 64 sts.
Row 1: *Yarn forward, sl 2 as if to p, yarn back, k2* rep *.* across.
Row 2: *p2, k2* rep *.* across.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 until piece measures about 9”.
Work k1, p1 ribbing for an additional 5”.
Change to #8 needles and continue in ribbing for 1”.
Row 3: k2 tog across row.
Row 4: p2tog across row.
Cut yarn about 16” from needles and thread onto a yarn needle. Run yarn threaded yarn needle through loops on knitting needles slipping each st off. Pull yarn tight and seam side of hat.
Note: size can be varied by casting on more or less sts in multiples of 4.

Rolled Brim Hat From Top Down (Adult or Child)
3 oz worsted weight yarn
#6 double point knitting needles
#6 16” circular knitting needle
Cast on 8 sts, divide onto 3 double point needles (3,3,2).
Round 1. Join the 3 needles and inc 1 st in each st (16 sts).
Round 2 and all even numbered rounds: K around.
Round 3: *inc, k1* rep *.* around (24 sts).
Round 5: *inc, k2* rep *.* around (32 sts).
Round 7: *inc, k3* rep *.* around (40 sts).
Round 9: *inc, k4* rep *.* around (48 sts).
Round 11: *inc, k5* rep *.* around (56 sts).
Continue adding 8 sts every other round until top of cap is 3” for child sized hat or 4” for adult sized hat. Change to circular needles and work stockinette for 7” for child sized hat and 8” for adult sized hat or desired length. Bind off very loosely. Draw in top 8 sts.

Easy Garter Stitch Scarf
worsted weight yarn (about 2 skeins)
#8 knitting needles or whatever sized needles will produce 4 sts/inch
Cast on 48 sts. Finished width is 12", use less stitches if narrower scarf is desired.
Row 1: Knit across row.
Repeat Row 1 until piece measures 60” Bind off
Weave in yarns ends. Block as required.

Garter Stitch Mobius
worsted weight yarn (about 2 skeins)
#8 knitting needles or whatever sized needles will produce 4 sts/inch
Cast on 64 sts.
Knit across row. Repeat until piece measures 62” Bind off.
Lay out flat. Turn one end over so piece is twisted. Join ends. Weave in ends as required.

Knit Block Pattern Scarf by Craft Yarn Council of America
Materials Needed: 6(8) oz [145(226) grams] worsted weight yarn
#10 (6mm) knitting needles
yarn needle or #16 tapestry needle
One Size, with 45” or 60” length. Directions are given for 45” length. Changes for 60” length are in parentheses.
Gauge: stockinette st on #10 needles, 4 sts = 1”, 5 rows = 1”. Be sure your own gauge corresponds with this gauge. Adjust needle size if necessary.
Loosely cast on 42 sts.
Row 1: (wrong side) K across all sts.
Row 2: (right side) K across all sts.
Row 3-9: Continue to work in garter st (k all rows) for 7 rows more.
Row 10: (right side row) K 12, p 6, k 6, p 6, k 12.
Row 11: K 6, (p 6, k 6) 3 times.
Rows 12-17: Rep Rows 10 and 11, 3 times more.
Row 18: K 6, (p 6, k 6) 3 times.
Row 19: k 12, p 6, k 6, p 6, k 12.
Rows 20-25: Rep Rows 18 and 19, 3 times more.
Repeat Rows 10-25 to form block pattern.
Work until piece measure 42” (57”), or 3” before desired length.
Repeat Rows 10-17.
Work in garter st (k every row) for 9 rows.
Bind off all sts.
Using yarn needle, finish off all ends.
