8 skeins of various textures of sport weight yarn for small “E” crochet hook, for medium “F” crochet hook, for large “G” crochet hook
NOTE: Corners are created by placing 3 sts in one existing corner st. Increase in corner sts in each row of sweater. Always join each row with a slip st. ** indicates a color or yarn change, as desired.
Ch 156, being careful not to twist chain and join with a sl st to form a ring.
Row 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in same st, 1 dc in next 76 sts, 3 dc in next 2 sts, 1 dc in next 76 sts, 3 dc in next st, join with a sl st. Row 2:Dc around (remember to dc, ch 1, dc in the 3 dc corner groups of row below). Row 3: ** Sc around, making sc, ch 1, sc in corner sts. Row 4: Hdc in back loop only around. Row 5: Sc in back loop only around. Row 6: Repeat Row 4. Row 7: repeat Row 5. Row 8: ** Ch 5, (1 tr and ch 1 in corner), tr in back loop only around. Row 8: ** Sc in back loop only around, increasing in corners as before. Rows 10 and 11: Repeat Row 9, using same color of yarn. Row 12: ** Ch 4, dc in corner, then Twist Stitch Around (Twist st, sk 1 st, dc in next sc, then dc in skipped st from behind), dc, ch 1, dc in corners around. Row 13: Repeat Row 12, using same color of yarn. Row 14: ** Sc around. Rows 15 through 17: Repeat Row 14, using same color of yarn. Row 18: ** Dc around. Row 19: Repeat Row 18, using same color of yarn. Row 20: ** Repeat Row 3. Rows 21 through 25: Repeat Rows 4-7. Row 26:** Tr in each st around, increasing in corners as usual. Row 27: ** Sc around. Rows 28 through 30: Sc around. Row 31: ** Hdc around. Row 32: Ch 1 in same corner space, omitting side sts, sc in next corner space, omit side sts and sc in next corner and across, join with a sl st. Rows 33 and 34: Ch 2 and hdc in each st around.
**WAIST BAND RIBBING: With RS facing, ch 3, 1 dc in each st around, join. Row 1: Ch 2 (counts as 1 st dc), *yo, starting with hook at front of work insert hook from right to left behind stem of next st and through to front again, yo and pull through loop, yo and pull though 2 loops, yo and pull through remaining 2 loops on hook (one FRONT RAISED DC worked); yo, starting with hook at back of work, insert hook from right to left in front of stem of next st and through to back again, yo and pull through loop, yo and pull through 2 loops on hook, yo and though 2 loop on hook (one BACK RAISED DC worked)*; repeat from *.* to end. Row 2: Work as for Row 1, working BACK RAISED DC over BACK RAISED DC and FRONT RAISED DC over FRONT RAISED DC (this will create vertical lines of ribbing). Repeat Rows 1 and 2 for two or more inches or desired length of ribbing. NOTE: If desired, a k 1, p1 ribbing may be used.
Join side seams leaving 8”(8”,9”) for armhole. OPTIONAL: Work one row of sc and one row of reverse sc around neck opening and armholes, if desired.

The following sts are used: CROSS STITCH - *sk next st, dc in next 3 sts, yo, insert hook from front to back in skipped st and complete a dc* rep *.* around. POPCORN STITCH – work 4 dc in 1 st, drop loop from hook, insert hook in 1st dc made and draw loop through. FLOWER STITCH – Row 1: ch 3, hold back last loop of each dc, dc in next 2 sts, yo, draw through all sts on hook, ch 1 (to form eye), ch 2, *holding back last loop of each dc, dc in eye twice, dc in next dc 3 times, yo and draw through all loops on hook* rep *.* around, join. Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in first eye, 3 dc in each eye around, join. STAR STITCH – Row 1: Draw a loop in each of next 3 sts, yo and draw through all loops on hook, ch 1 for eye (starting star stitch made), *draw up a loop in eye of star st just made, drawing up each loop to same height, draw up a loop in back of last drawn up loop, draw up a loop in next 2 sts, yo and draw through all 5 loops on hook, ch 1 for eye (star st made)* rep *.* around. Row 2: Make 2 hdc in eye of each star st around.
RIBBING: With color 1, ch 16.. Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (15 sc), ch 1 turn. Row 2: sc in back loop of each sc across (15 sc), ch 1, turn. Repeat Row 2 until ribbing measures 30”(34”,36”) slightly stretched. Slip st ends together to form a circle.

Quickie One Skein Lacy Top or Vest
1 skein worsted weight yarn
for small/medium, size “K” and “N” crochet hooks
for large, size “N” and “Q” crochet hooks
Instructions are for small/medium with large in parenthesis.
Ribbing: With K(N) hook, ch 9(7).
Row 1: sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc across row, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: sc in back loop across, ch 1, turn. Repeat 34(30) times. at end, ch 1, do not turn.
Body: With N(Q) hook.
Row 1: Working along long edge, loosely work 36(32) sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Loosely work 36(32) sc, ch 1, turn. Repeat 28 times.
Make 2.
Join pieces together at side seams leaving 7” open at top for armholes. Join shoulder seam, leaving 10” open at center for neck.
Belt: ch 40, finish off. Weave through loops.

crochet “J” hook or whatever sized hook is needed to produce the gauge
gauge: long dc are drawn up to measure 1-1/2”
Ch 5, join with a sl st to form a ring, ch 5.
Row 1: 7 long dc in ring (shell). Ch 3, turn.
Row 2: dc in 2nd st from hook and in each long dc of shell around row. End dc in top of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Row 3: 7 long dc in 1st dc (shell made), hdc in center st of same shell, 8 long dc in top of turning ch (shell made), ch 3, turn.
Row 4: 1 dc in 2nd st from hook and in each long dc of shell, hdc around hdc of previous row, 1 dc in each long dc of shell. End, dc in top of turning ch. Ch 5, turn.
Row 5: 7 long dc in 1st dc (shell made), hdc in center st of same shell, 8 long dc in top of next hdc, hdc in center of next shell. End, 8 long dc in top of turning ch. Ch 3, turn.
Repeat rows 4 and 5 for pattern.
Continue until there are 19 shells across top edge or desired length. End with row 5 of pattern.
Row 6: Repeat row 4, dec 1 st in center of each shell pattern. Continue in pattern across row.
Row 7: Ch 1, do not turn, work 1 sc in each dc across row toward right hand skipping hdc, do not fasten off on last st. Working along side edge, *ch 9, sc into base of each shell*. Repeat *.* along side edge, bottom, and other edge. Ch 9 turn, *sc under each loop, ch 9* repeat *.* for 2 rows. End sc under last loop. Fasten off.
Fringe: Cut 10 strands of yarn 12” in length. Fold in half, draw through and under each ch 9 loop.
